FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I prefer to work on an hourly basis because I have found that to often be the best method of ensuring that both parties are satisfied with the work and compensation. $50 an hour is my standard rate for most projects, however, this is a little negotiable depending on timeframe of the project, the overall budget, the necessary changes, and other such factors.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The way I typically carry out projects consists first of a phase of client discovery where I meet with the client to fully understand the current situation and where the application needs to go. This can also be followed up with a phase of customer/user engagement where I contact current or potential users to understand their current opinions of the website, product offerings, and impression of the brand/business. This would be followed by a follow up meeting where I discuss with the client my research findings, and then we can work together to formulate the necessary changes. The next phase is development where I build out all necessary changes and new features. Then testing (both technical and user), where I take the website and run it through a robust battery of tests to assess the infrastructure, along with testing it with current and potential users. Lastly, delivery, where I present all work done along with a detailed report of how my time was spent. If at this point, the client isn't satisfied I am always willing to keep working on the project for as long as it takes! Of course, all of these phases are negotiable and customizable to whatever the client needs!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I just graduated from SMU with a bachelor's in Computer Science. During my time at SMU I've built quite a number of websites, web applications, mobile applications, etc. I've also taken quite a few design courses and am pursuing a graduate degree in Design and Innovation this academic year. Both of these educational experiences have uniquely equipped me with both technical expertise and user-centered design capabilities. Simply put, I know how to make websites that work and that users love to interact with. In addition, I have experience in both in-depth user research and market research methods and have worked with clients in the past to help refine their target audience/market and innovate new ways to engage with their audiences.
