Introduction: I am a small insured sub contractor with over 15+ years of experience, I use minimal advertising, as most of my customers are repeat business, or word of mouth. I like to make sure my customers are happy throughout the entire process. I always have a simple signed contract on larger jobs that easily explains all the work to be done. I don't take any money up front for labor, only when work is done. I only ask customers to pay for the materials when delivered so it is safe for both parties. If there are jobs I know I can't handle, because of the size, or something I don't have the experience for, I will recommend another specialist so the job is done right.

We hired Matt last minute when we needed our sunroom finished (mud, taped and textured) before a party. He was very responsive and came out the next day to look at the room and give us a quote. After agreeing to the price that was bidded to us, he went ahead and started working. Between our party and drying time it took a total of 3 days to complete. His work turned out very good and you can tell he knows what he is doing. He was polite the whole time while he was working on our project. The only issue my husband and I had, was at the end when the project was finished. I came home to an extremely dirty home. I know that sanding drywall will clearly make a home very dusty. However, we asked that he tarp off a part of the living room so that it eliminates as much dust throughout the house as possible, and to use the sunroom door to walk outside to either the garage or use the sliding glass door to get back into the other rooms. Him and his partner did tarp off the living room, but continued to walk through the tarp during the whole process (we were not home but our cameras records upon any movement so we were able to see this). This led to our living room, dining room and kitchen with a decent layer of dust on all items. We covered our couches, and all my sons toys to protect them in case there was a little dust from the sanding, which is to be expected. However we didn't tarp off anything else since we assumed he would secure the tarp to the walls, ceiling and floors while working to provide a barrier from the rest of the home. The windows, carpet, baseboards and trim in the sunroom were left completely dirty from the spray that was applied onto the ceiling as texture. He told my husband that we can use a drywall sponge to easily remove whatever we didn't like and they tried to clean up as best as they could. Well, this is a lie. You can see 2 windows out of 13 in the sunroom were attempted to be cleaned off and then the rest just left with texture splattered all over them. While paper was laid down during the whole process, there is so much dried on mud on our carpet that I have to clean the carpets to avoid rubbing ever spot individually. In addition, they used our bathroom to clean tools or something containing mud in the bathtub and didn't properly clean it out when they were done (good thing I caught this before I told my son to get into the bath). The bathroom floors had dried mud on it from splashing while cleaning. When a contractor does work to a home, anyone would expect for their home to be spotless where they were working at when the project is finished. Unfortunately, I spent 4 hours deep cleaning our entire upstairs due to the lack of clean up that was provided once the work was complete. My husband did reach out to Matt, and let him know that we are happy with the final work but we are very upset with the way he didn't clean up after himself. His response back to my husband was "There are two buckets of mud leftover in the garage". I am not sure why he didn't care about not cleaning up after himself properly. I am no super clean freak, but when I can wipe my hand across my kitchen counter (located in front of the house) and the sunroom is at the back, then we have a problem. Working in the industry that I do, I know that no matter what, all contractors should leave the worksite better than how they found it. Bottom line - would I hire him? I would hire him based on the good work he completed as it looked professional. But, beware that your home may be a disaster after the work has been completed and the check has been cut.

i am sorry that she was not happy with the cleanup. as i spoke to husband, i gave an extra discount if they wanted to help clean up. when we left i asked if there was anything else he wanted me to do, and he said no, it looks good. im sorry i did not know she was that unsatisfied until i read this review. I also called after i left to make sure it looked ok, and explained if they needed anything to let me know. drywall is a dusty job when sanding, especially in a smaller house. we did use paper,plastic,blocked off area,opened windows to vent,and ran vaccume on sander to keep it better. i am glad they were happy with the work, ill just make it more clear in future if i give discounts for some of the cleanup.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have standard pricing on most general work, but as the work I do varies so much on custom items, I charge an hourly rate with a price cap to not exceed.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I make sure I understand what they are trying to accomplish. some customers have an idea, but don't know exactly what they want, so I will show them a variety of choices, and ask them questions, especially during the work to make sure they will be happy. it is a lot easier to make changes to something during work than it is to tear something apart and start over. Although I have had customers make changes in the middle of larger projects, because sometimes it is difficult for customers to picture the final product.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of my education has been on site instruction, with good people who took the time to show how to do the work properly
