FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I try to keep my prices at reasonable level. For most clients, I calculate my cost based on hours of coverage, editing time, and number of videographers needed. My base rate is $140 per hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After email exchanges with a client, I like to have a phone conversation with bride or groom about his or her wants for the video. I generally will take copious notes and sketch out a few storyboards as I speak to the client. Phone conversations are also very important in building client-vendor trust.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Formally, I have B.A. in English from Michigan State and an M.A. in English education from Wayne State. My true education in video production started when I developed two elective classes at the high school where I teach. I developed a film theory class titled "Film as Literature" and a video production class called "Digital Filmmaking." The best way to learn how to do something is to teach it to others.
