Dr. Karen helped me 'shake off the rust' as it has been some time since I had a college writing assignment. We met an hour at a time and our meetings provided me with good guidance and direction. Karen also provided me with some useful resources and provided me very detailed answers to my questions. Meeting at UB was convenient for me. I recommend her writing services.Oct 12, 2018

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Meeting with individuals for advisement is conducted with utmost sincerity and concern to help those individuals to succeed in whatever he or she feels they need. Students and editing clients express their needs, and I prepare an individualized plan specific to those needs. I always prepare thoroughly for each assignment and every tutoring lesson. I put an abundant amount of work into designing and implementing every session I present. I treat my editing assignments in the same manner. Prior to an edit, I research the topic or field of study. I feel an editor needs to be more than just a proofreader, he or she should be knowledgeable about the subject. Being knowledgeable about the subject enables the editor to recognize errors that may exist within the content of the literature, allowing the editor to assist the author in presenting a clearer more concise literary piece.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?University at Buffalo, SUNY B.A. Minor Psychology University at Buffalo, SUNY M.A. Professor: ENG 101, ENG 201, Academic Writing Skills (Master's level)
- How did you get started doing this type of work? After teaching for a number of years, I began working with students individually. In doing so, I discovered I had a 'knack' for relating to and helping people to not only improve academically but personally, as well. I found that many of my students lacked confidence, which I feel contributed to their inability to succeed or tendency to need help. I was, and continue to be able to assist my students and clients in gaining confidence and revealing the positive aspects of their abilities and within their personalities. This skill has been the most rewarding for me because helping someone to gain confidence is worth more than multiple years of learning, it is beneficial over a lifetime.
