FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My usual rates are $20.00 for a 30-minute lesson. Since I travel to student's homes, the price can go up to $25.00 for a 30-minute lesson, depending upon the distance I must travel to the student's home. The average cost for a guitar lesson at a music store is $35.00 for a 30-minute lesson, and the student is required to travel to the store.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I try to assess what the student's needs are before moving forward. I tell the student that the lesson time is THEIR time to learn what they want to learn. If a student is not interested in learning to read music, I won't go there. It's all about what the student wants to learn.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing guitar since 1977. I have studied classical guitar, jazz guitar, blues guitar, rock guitar, folk guitar, sight reading, and theory. I studied with private instructors, and have studied music at the college level. I have also played in bands on the professional level in the San Diego area.
