Introduction: I’ve been teaching private lessons for over 11 years and currently, teach from my private studio in the Dogtown Arts District of Oakland. I have a passion for teaching music to students of all kinds: beginning through advanced, including adult beginners. I perform and teach classical, experimental, and improvisational styles. I also offer tutoring lessons in written and aural theory.
I'm focused on maintaining a vibrant studio of cellists that learn from me, as well as one another. Our semi-annual recital events are wonderful experiences for students to hear each other play and perform for friends and family.

I've been taking cello lessons with Crystal for a year now; although, I played as a kid my technique was gone after the 20 years that passed since then.
I feel so grateful to have found her; much of her method of teaching is geared towards changing old thought pattern.
If your lucky to book weekly lessons with her jump on the opportunity if you want to learn cello, or further immerse yourself in learning cello.

As a new student to the cello, I found Crystal's lessons to be expertly tailored to my skill level. She demonstrated the experience necessary to assess the areas where I needed to focus on more, and gave clear instructions on how to develop my playing. I'm very pleased that I found Crystal, and would recommend her as a teacher to cellists of all skill levels.

We love Crystal! She is supportive and encouraging. There are times our daughter is tired and just dragging, but Crystal shows her patience and support. We find that Ella has progressed well under Crystal’s tutelage, and our daughter enjoys playing (which to me is all that I would wish for!)

Crystal is a great teacher. I’m an adult learning cello and she really helped improve my playing. Every time I came to a lesson struggling with something she would have the perfect exercise or piece to show me to help fix my problem. I love taking lessons with her!
