My husband and I recently had David come to our home to take photos of us and our 8 month old baby for our Christmas card. They turned out absolutely beautiful and he was truly a joy to work with. It's not always easy to wrangle a busy baby for photographs but somehow he managed to capture all three of us looking good. He was easy going and really allowed us to settle into the shoot and be ourselves. When I look through the pictures they look super natural and like an ordinary day in our life. David was very thoughtful and patient in his approach and really allowed for our baby's personality to shine. He was somehow able to capture on film some of her quirky little mannerisms which are so fleeting with babies. These photos in particular are pure gold. I would highly recommend David and we definitely plan to use him again ourselves in the future.

David makes the photo subject feel at ease, which produces great results! He usually asks for certain words or a feel that the photos convey. He is not afraid of letting photo subjects know what is working and what is not—facial expressions, poses, background, etc. You can tell he is working to get the best results possible. Great communication between the client. Will definitely be going to David for future photography needs.

David is amazing! It was my first time doing a photoshoot and was a bit nervous but his professionialsm made me feel super comfortable and ready to go. I was first referred to David by a close friend, when I needed to update my LinkedIn profile pic with a professional headshot. Not being accustomed to sitting across from such a huge lens, this could've been awkward for me, but David made me feel really comfortable and at ease, talking me through all of the shots. He was efficient without making it feel rushed, and I ended up with 3 great options to choose from. He was able to touch-up my selection, and I was very satisfied with the final product. Now when my wife was pregnant with our son, and we began considering documenting this special moment with maternity photos, I automatically thought of David since I had such a positive experience working with him previously. We ended up taking the pictures at the Berkeley Marina based on David's suggestion and prior scouting/preparation. He made us feel very relaxed with his humor, and was great at directing so that we came away with very natural-looking photos, as opposed to the stiff "Prom Pic" effect that we really wanted to avoid. My wife, an amateur photographer in her own right, had tagged a few items on Pinterest from which she drew inspiration, and I appreciated David's willingness and flexibility to do his best to accommodate my wife's wishes. He also came with his own artistic eye (even taking an epic shot to photoshop against a star-filled sky he had taken a few weeks prior for what came out to be a really dramatic picture). He also "airbrushed" the pictures so that my wife looked even more gorgeous than she already is haha. She ended up posting her favorite pictures on social media and got really positive comments across the board from all her friends. We were really happy with the entire album. I highly recommend David for his skill, photographer's eye, and "bedside manner", and we've recommended him to our friends and family. We'll definitely call him again in the future for family portraits and such. Thanks David for the amazing pictures and wonderful experience!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Prices listed are for our session; product quantity and delivery is subject to additional charges. For instance, a standard headshot is 30 minutes and starts at $175, including two retouched images. For longer sessions including a background color change and/or wardrobe change there are additional charges.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to speak with the client to discuss their needs, inspirations, and expectations first. After that we might set up a Pinterest board with ideas, go back and forth via text or email to discuss details, and go over wardrobe. I try to convey my excitement at working with them, and my gratitude for choosing me as their photographer. I also assure them that there is no time like the present to have photographs made, and that even if you haven't lost that last five pounds you will never have better images made of yourself to cherish and share.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I ran a photo studio from 2011-1016 in Taiwan, where I served both individual and commercial clients.
