Introduction: I am a 25 year-old bassist who has performed around the world, and has worked as a musician on 3 different cruise lines. I have studied the bass with George Rubino, Bronek Suchanek, Alexis Cuadrado, Jeff Campbell, James Vandemark, Frasier Hollins and Jan Jarczyk. I studied at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY, and McGill University in Montreal, QC. I performed with with the Grammy Jazz Ensembles, appeared on "From The Top" on NPR and has performed with Mindi Abair, James Moody, and Kenny Burrell. I'm hip to todays music scene teaching upright bass and bass guitar at a wide variety of musical styles, primarily Jazz and Classical. I will simultaneously teach improvisation, music theory, proper form and technical facility, necessary music history, piano skills if necessary and everything else that is relevant to being a bass player, and musician today. I enjoy teaching because music is my passion and my profession. I have been playing music for 20 years over many styles of music including jazz, classical, latin, rock and blues. I love passing on musical knowledge to others.

I hired Dominic Sbrega to teach my son how to play upright bass. I am a very thorough researcher, so I called conductors of local orchestras and bands to try to find the best teacher for my son. I was surprised that Dom’s name came up so frequently, given that he was still in high school. However, even at his young age, he had a great local and national reputation. As a result, I decided to give Dom a chance. Though my son was studying classical music, he was also interested in jazz. Dom was adept at teaching both. Dom was extremely patient and always very clear in his instructions. Dom’s lessons managed to be both demanding yet fun. My son adored him, enjoying every second of his lessons. I could not imagine a better bass teacher.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are $50 an hour, although lessons will go on longer, as long as the student doesn't have any prior commitments to the lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I teach a student once per week. The student may request more lessons per week. The first lesson is always free. Parents are always welcome to sit in on lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been studying music for over 20 years. At the college level, I found myself teaching students and friends through school as part of the program.
