Introduction: Dr. Danita has over 20 years of experience counseling, mentoring, and educating individuals, couples, and families. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist serving diverse populations in the New Jersey and PA areas. Dr. Danita founded Mending Hearts family Counseling in 2011. Mending Hearts has a staff of experienced therapists available to help you work through any mental health, marriage or family issue. Dr. Danita and the staff are passionate about helping new couples and families establish a firm foundation for healthy family life. The Mending Hearts staff enjoy providing hope for married couples and families who feel all is lost. Our mission is to provide culturally sensitive, and clinically sound counseling that empowers individuals, couples, and families to lead healthier psychological, emotional and spiritual lives. Danita is really down to earth and easy to talk to and open up to. I learned how to better respond to the behaviors of my husband that I thought were not benefiting to our relationship goals in a more tactful way. This has opened up more communication and intimacy between us. I am still learning how to not assume so much based on past experiences as well. I’ve learned we both have different love languages and we should act on them in a way that is more beneficial to the other.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We accept most major insurance plans. The rate for self-pay is $125.00 per hour. We have a sliding scale.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New clients complete a 5-minute intake by phone. A clinical assessment of the presenting issues will take place at the first session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Dr. Danita has a PhD. in Counseling Education and Supervision and a license in Marriage and Family Therapy. The other therapists in the office have varied educational backgrounds and experiences.
