Introduction: I am a dedicated, passionate, and well-connected teacher and musician. I love working with students of all ages and skill levels to foster a lifelong love of playing music. I also hope to help build the community of flutists in the Denver area by encouraging and enabling participation in the multitude of community music classes and performances available every month. I received my Master of Music and Graduate Performance Certificate, both in Flute Performance, from the University of Northern Colorado, where I studied with James Hall (Professor of Flute, UNC) and Brook Ferguson (Principal Flutist, Colorado Symphony.) I was the Graduate Teaching Assistant at UNC during my Master's as well and was responsible for private lessons for several Music Education majors and weekly group technique seminars. I received my Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I studied with Stephanie Jutt. Additionally, I have played in master classes with many artists, including Jim Walker (Professor at Colburn School and University of Southern California, international recording artist,) Catherine Ransom Karoly (Associate Principal, Los Angeles Philharmonic,) Angela Jones Reus (Professor at University of Georgia-Atlanta, former Principal Flutist, Stuttgart Philharmonic,) Nicole Esposito (Professor at University of Iowa,) Sarah Jackson (Piccolo, Los Angeles Philharmonic,) and many others. Some areas of particular interest for me are Body Mapping, Pilates, Historical Performance Practice, and Flute Pedagogy (particularly that of the French flute school, Hotteterre-Tulou.) I also enjoy outdoor activities, reading, fitness, and travel. I have extensive experience playing in orchestral settings (principal and secondary roles,) chamber music, wind ensemble (principal and section,) musical theater, opera, and as a soloist. I love performing, and encourage all my students to perform. I learn so much from every person I work with, and it is an inspiration to watch students grow and challenge themselves to achieve goals.

Liz is a very passionate and enthusiastic flute player and teacher. I had the pleasure of studying with her during my senior year at the University of Northern Colorado where I obtained my degree in music education. She is very resourceful and an empathetic individual. An educator with these qualities is hard to come by. And, just wait until you hear her play!

Lizzy encourages my daughter to play harder pieces. She takes the time to listen to what my daughter is saying and is very patient with her. Lizzy also encourages my daughter to play her flute with other groups and provides us with info on places where we can go watch others play and join in.
