Al at HoundHikes has taken care of my year-and-a-half old Havanese puppy Lola multiple times when I've been out of town. He's a natural with her, texts me photos to keep me updated on how she's doing, and is just a great guy to work with. Lola loves staying at Al's and I love knowing she's getting lots of love and attention while I'm away. On top of all that - his rates are totally reasonable! 5 stars and 2 thumbs way up!!

I have used HoundHikes for individual dog walking/care, as well as for the groups that go to the state park. HoundHikes is by far the best dog care/dog-walking service provider I have ever used. When Al came to our home for a “meet and greet”, he came very prepared with treats for my dog and asked all the “right” questions for someone taking care of a pet and even put all the emergency contacts that I provided him with in his cell phone for easy access if ever needed. Being a working individual whose schedule tends to change a bit week to week and has a few late nights each week, flexibility is key. HoundHikes has not only accommodated ALL days/times that I need, but has been SO patient with letting me schedule a week or two at a time as my work schedule changes. He also constantly offers to drop in again later in the day or evening if I ever get stuck at work, etc. HoundHikes has gone ABOVE AND BEYOND in meeting my needs. For example: a) one day after playing in the park, my dog was still pretty wet (even after being bowl dried) and so Al kept her with him in the car longer so that she could dry off some more. b) Al texts me updates each day after he has dropped my dog at home and many days he also sends me pics and videos of her while they are out. c) one time when he arrived to pick up my dog, she had been sick on the floor in a few places, and beyond making sure she was okay, updating me, etc., he cleaned it all up! My dog LOVES Al and he takes her out rain or shine, day or night. He always checks her food and water when he brings her home to make sure that she is all set!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
30 Minute Individual Neighborhood Walk $20.00 60 Minute Group Hike $25.00 All walks include waste pickup and removal, replenishment of food/water if desired, and should your dog get muddy out walking a basic wipe down will be provided.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Generally, we will set up a meet and greet to create familiarity between your dog walker and your pet, and to go over all the particulars of your individual situation. With security on everyone's mind these days, we have no issues meeting in public places if you prefer. In fact we encourage it!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Take a love of animals and the desire to work outdoors and marry the two.
