Introduction: I have 20+ years experience in accounting and bookkeeping across both the public and private sector. I've been employed as an accounting clerk, bookkeeper, full-charge bookkeeper, and accounting manager. For the last 10 years, I've partnered with small business owners to improve business processes, analyze financial reports and provide expert advice.
I learned the accounting process the old fashioned way; all transactions were manually recorded in a paper ledger. This early training built a solid foundation of the basic principles of accounting. Upon this foundation, my accounting knowledge continued to grow through additional training and work experience.
Many people, even some supposed pros, substitute accounting software for accounting knowledge. They rely entirely on accounting software to blindly guide them through the accounting process. My education began with ACCOUNTING! I use technology and software to supplement an already solid foundation in accounting principles.
Technology has not changed the basic principles of accounting, but it has vastly changed the methods we use to apply those basic principles. My accounting practices have had to, over the years, evolve hand in hand with technology. This learning process has broadened my perspective and given me the ability to "bridge the gap" between the tech savvy and not so tech-savvy. Business owners sometimes get overwhelmed with administrative duties and need a little hand-holding. Conversely, from time to time, they need a little push. I'm capable of adeptly maneuvering either situation.
I am a QuickBooks (QB) Advanced ProAdvisor, holding certifications for numerous QB platforms, including QB Online, QB Desktop, QB Enterprise. I am also a Hubdoc Certified Advanced partner, Xero partner, and Zoho partner. I have held an active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) issued by the IRS since 2014, and I am an "Authorized IRS e-file Provider".
