Owners were very courteous. Employees as well. On time and due to acclimate weather I stayed in constant contact with owners via text. Deck turned out great. The work that they do is superb. I would recommend their company to others in need of painting or deck needs.

The service is was as promised from start to finish. Addressed nail pops from house settling and prepped the areas to protect furniture and floors. Those on the job took pride in their work and wanted to ensure satisfaction. Service with care. I would highly recommend their services

Move Out Checklist For Repairs and Painting
We had a great experience working with this company. They were personable, very professional and completed excellent work! Initially I was looking for someone to help repair damaged drywall in a home, and we considered completing the painting ourselves. We met with the owners and completed a walk through. They are both detail oriented and highly skilled, and their employees are excellent craftsman and painters as well. We ended up having all of our service repair needs completed with A Stroke Above and were very pleased with the end results. Their attention to detail was impeccable. They provided some needed repairs to our flooring, completely repainted the entire house, including the trim and closets and cleaned up when they were done. Their pricing is good, their work in amazing, and they really assisted in relieving the stress of having to paint an entire home. I would be happy to recommend them to anyone that I know, and we will keep them in mind in case we purchase a home in the area. We would be thrilled to have them return for any future remodeling or renovation needs as well as repairs and definitely painting.

Sam and Danny are really good people and very professional. I initially just wanted them to paint the interior of the house after my tenants moved out. They did such a good job I hired them to finish other projects around the house. They stand by their work and I will be using them in the future with my rental properties

Sam and Danny followed up well on any issues that we had. The only problems were the subs weren't always reliable. But everything was completed and done to our satisfaction. Pricing was very reasonable. I will definitely use them again.

Stroke above did an amazing job on my new flooring. Danny and Samantha took the time to work with me and what I wanted. Honestly I got 3 bids and the others spent 5 mins in my home and threw number out. They spent almost 2 hours making sure I was happy with the choices I made. Recommend them to all. Thank you

unprofessional with communications and performance, team had little equipment to do yard work. Paid large amount for manual labor. Not happy. Asked Danny to come and evaluate job for himself, but would not do so. Would not use again.
    Danny/Samantha E. Jun 14, 2016

Barabara I am very sorry you feel this way. Your yard was in bad shape when you reached out to us. We sent 4 people there and they worked 3 solid days on your yard and we got 60 pictures to show the substantial improvement. You even called me the day the job finished and thanked me and the crew for a wonderful job. I offered to send people back out when you called me a week later but you declined. It was a pleasure completing your job and we featured it on our FB

Had a very simple sheet rock job to be done-install 3 sheets of 1/2 inch sheet rock in a garage ceiling. Brought 5/8' sheet rock and had to return for required 1/2' sheet rock. Did not come with the correct tools to install ceiling sheet rock. Only had 5 foot ladders which was very dangerous to use-saw installer standing on top ladder steps.Loaned my 8 foot ladder to help with installation. Installation was terrible-sheet rock not secured adequately to ceiling rafters. One piece of sheet rock had to be replaced when I complained about the poor installation. Clear to me that these people did not understand how to install sheet rock. Overall a terrible job. Beware when you use A Stroke Above Services!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We never want to provide and estimate then come back later to say it will cost more time and money. Reviewing the project beforehand eliminates time and money changes along the way so everyone is on the same page from the very start. Every job is unique. We have been painting for 10+ years, full time as A Stroke Above since 2013. Every contract has been different. not every 12x14 room is the same. There could be more windows or closets to work around, wall or ceiling damage to repair, elaborate trim to work around, more outlet and switch plate covers to remove and replace, difficult colors to paint over, or other decorative elements we need to consider. All these factors affect painting hours and number of gallons. When we send a quote, the price is the final price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We believe in customer service and we want to be the best at it. To us this means meeting with every customer, reviewing the project together and sharing information that will make the project process easier . Know your contractor. We think its important for customers to know who would potentially be in their home for the duration of the project. We are certain we can answer questions customers have about the process they are about to work on, what product are best for their needs, and anything else that may come up during the visit. We believe in what we do professionally and at the end of the day, it is more important that we have provided guidance and counsel versus winning a contract. Of course from a business standpoint, we would love to work with everyone, but from a realistic standpoint, we know that is not always possible. If we leave a visit feeling great and the customer feels the same, then that's a win for us.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Each and every type you could possibly think of. Poor to rich. Young to old. College students just looking to have some simple shelving built for dorm rooms, a very large hotel looking for hundreds of doors to be refinished. Customers who have varying levels of OCD to those who give us all creative decision making capabilities. Simply put, our focus is Customer Service and Quality Work. It does not matter the customer or the request, ultimately the goal is 100% customer satisfaction,
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
1.) ASK TO SEE A PAINTERS CRENDITIALS. You may come across a painter that does not have a business license and is merely doing painting work on the side. That maybe see, fine until an accident, missed appointment or property damage occurs, Painters should have a proper business license; this gives them access to wholesale pricing and lines of credit at a paint supply store. It also means they have taken the extra step to consider themselves professional and may treat their paint jobs as actual revenue streams and not just occasional sources of income. 2.) ASK FOR REFERENCES. Feel comfortable asking for references from their past customers. Three referrals should be enough to assess the quality of work as well as the communication skills of the painter. Ask about the overall quality of the work, the work style of the painter, how the work has held up over time, ad if they would hire them again. Be wary of any professional who refuses to give you references, a quality painter should be happy to have you speak to past clients. 3.) GET AN IN-HOME ESTIMATE. Its okay to receive ball park figures over the phone, however, inist upon an in-home estimate. You may describe your bathroom painting job as simple and straightforward, but a professional might spot water damage or peeling paint, indicating a larger issue that paint will not hide, A quality painter will help point out why certain parts of the project might be more expensive and can even talk through the repair process if it is necessary. A painter should also ask questions regarding access to the painting site, where they should park and any HOA rules prohibiting hours of work, 4.) CLARIFY EXPECTATIONS. Nothing is more frustrating than not being on the same page as your professional. During your in-hme meeting, clarify your expectations of the job and have the painter set appropriate expectations on their end as well. 5.) DISCUSS PRICING. The expression "you get what you pay for" can be applied to nearly every profession. Of course you need to hire the painter that suits your budget, however, the cheapest painting estimate may not include everything and you may end up paying more in the end. Painters usually bid their projecs based on an hourly rate and they need to account for prep time, supplies, high ceilings, difficult access points, and number of people working. Using expensve paints, high-pigment paints, or specilaity paints usually increases the cost. Staining wood trim, doors, or molding may also have a different price as there are more steps in the process and is a more difficult application job.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
FIrst and foremost, decide what you budget is and specifically what projects you would like completed in your home. Have a list of problem areas already noted to show the professional when they arrive to perform their estimate. Do your research on different paint sheens and do not be afraid to play with a little bit of color. If you really have been wanting the walls in your dining room Sunset Orange, then GO FOR IT! The professional can guide you through color choices, provide samples and discounts. Ensure that you clarify with the contractor that a contract of some sort is desired.
