Music Lessons

Introduction: I have a Bachelor degree in Music Performance from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Masters in Music Performance from James Madison University. I am a vocalist but I also teach basic guitar and piano. I have a thorough understanding of music theory and teach ages 12 and up. Although I can sing several styles of music, I am a classically trained vocalist and therefore apply those techniques to all my lessons. Vocal training through classical music establishes the basic technique (i.e. breathing, posture, vowel placement, musicality, etc) needed to succeed in other genres. A typical lesson usually consists of a 15-minute to 30-minute classical warmup session then we move on to applying our technique to whatever song(s) we are working on. I am a firm believer that there needs to be a good connection with the teacher and student for the best results, so the first lesson is treated as a trial lesson and is free of charge.
