FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is negotiable. If I feel that you really want to learn, I can be flexible with price. My standard fee is $45 per hour for 1 hr. session. Special - $75 for 2 hr. session. In addition, I charge .30¢/mile for distance over 20 miles. For example, if you live 55 miles away I would begin charging mileage at 20 miles in, so you would be charged .30¢ for 70 miles (35 miles each way, an additional $21 with each session fee). Again, that is for a hypothetical 55 miles one-way session. That would be 40 miles out of my pocket for my travels that I'm not charging for.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Thumbtack.com is new to me. I've worked with people that I've known, or in law enforcement one on one before, but this is my first time promoting my services for private lessons. So I'm learning this process with you. I would prefer an initial email from my customer to get the ball rolling. I would assume a phone call next to discuss my client's specific needs and to see what they hope to achieve. If you call my number, leave a message first and I will be very happy to return your call. Thank you.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a 1st degree black belt in Shorinji Kempo karate and spent over 13 years as a police officer. I have been trained in sexual assault investigations and have investigated numerous sexual assault cases over the years which have led to the arrest and conviction of sexual offenders. My training includes Police Response to Crimes of Sexual Violence, produced by the PA Coalition Against Rape (PCAR). This training includes not only investigation, but understanding the victim, their perspective and how to attend to them. My training also includes the perspective of the offender and what he looks for in choosing a victim. I have also been recognized by the Stop Violence Against Women Coalition for Outstanding Service to Crime Victims Award, presented to me by the Venango County District Attorney.
