Introduction: I design and build custom woodwork. I use 3d design software to meet clients' needs in an exact and timely manner. I then use traditional training coupled with state of the art technology to stay on schedule and on budget. I will always love working with my hands. I am just as comfortable designing from the workbench as I am in front of the computer. Wood is such a rewarding and natural material and brings warmth to your home as well as my workplace.

Goldhand Design brought my vision for a bathroom sink cabinet to reality better than I had imagined it. I referenced photos of six different cabinets, noting features that I liked and didn't like, and Ryan at Goldhand nailed the design. Whenever I was uncertain about what I wanted, Ryan offered definitive design advice. Although I was already contracted with a different business for installation, Ryan's know-how about that part of the project provided valuable insight. We are restoring a very old house. Ryan helped us to match historic moldings which cannot be bought and has helped us with more jobs than we could easily list. He was attentive and detail oriented in a way that few contractors are. He was able to work with me to match the extremely precise drawings I created to a very high standard of quality. He was also willing to work with my changing vision of the project, reworking pieces as necessary. If you need quality custom molding or carpentry work done to a high standard, I know no one in the Richmond area better for the job.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The core of my pricing system is $50 an hour for custom woodworking. Materials are not marked up and sold to you at cost. Some exceptional projects may alter this price structure .
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet a new client in person, failing that email is preferred because of the ease of exchanging pictures. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and request pictures that have inspired the client. From this point I begin my design process, and work with the client to zero in on exactly what they want.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended the sculpture program at Virginia Commonwealth University. Since then, I have worked as a finish carpenter and a woodworker for about 5 years. I was born into a family of engineers, and took technical drawing classes in high school. This has have informed my fine art and professional design work more than I could have imagined when I first walked into that highschool classroom!
