Introduction: *Professional singer-songwriter with over 10 years experience performing professionally as well as 10+ years teaching children* I have been performing professionally as a singer/songwriter for 10+yrs and have 5+yrs classical training in music theory, piano and vocals. I also have 10+yrs working experience as a teacher through private music schools and through a nonprofit after-school program I created, The Superhero Children Project and I specialize in teaching children and adults just starting out in music. I love teaching my students to play what THEY want to learn as well as teaching them to write their own music and to perform with confidence. In a typical 45minute lesson we will spend 15min with warm ups and scales, 15min learning theory and playing techniques, and 15min learning songs or taking what we've learned to write your own songs. I can also add vocals if you like. For songwriters, each time you learn something new we can turn it into an original song so that you have an interesting way to practice while building your own song base. If you want to learn cover songs, we can add songs as you progress with your instrument to build your cover tune song base. Acoustic Guitar Lessons: My guitar style ranges from percussive bass line driven strumming to sweet melodic finger picking and I can teach you to play, write and read tabs very easily. I will also teach you strumming and finger picking patterns, basic music theory, scales and chords. I have a more intuitive teaching approach to the guitar and will teach you based on what it is you are wanting to learn. My teaching style is more inline for musicians wanting to learn how to perform their favorite cover songs or write and perform their own music with their own stylized technique. I also teach singing and songwriting if you would like to work that into your guitar lessons. Piano Lessons: I have a more classical style with teaching piano. We will be working out of standard books to learn proper playing positions, music theory, reading sheet music, and, of course, how to play! I have fun games for learning theory and will have you reading music before you know it. I teach out of my studio in the Heights and offer (4) 30 min lessons/month for $100 and (4) 45min lessons/month for $120.
