Introduction: Praised by the Chicago Classical Review as “excellent in every way,” violinist Julia Dina has toured internationally and played under the batons of Valery Gergiev, Gustavo Dudamel, and Krzysztof Penderecki. She has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including the Chicago Symphony Center and the Leipzig Gewandhaus. At the 2019 TwickenhamFest, she collaborated with Grammy Award-winning artist Craig Terry and lyric soprano Susanna Phillips. She recently performed as a soloist for Brahms’ Double Concerto with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and Tamás Varga, principal cellist of the Vienna Philharmonic. Julia’s solo and chamber performances have been featured on Chicago WFMT’s “Introductions” and nationally on NPR’s “From the Top.” She has performed in solo engagements with the Chicago Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra, and in major events such as Make Music Chicago, Fulcrum Point, and Rocket City New Music.   While studying at the Yale School of Music, Julia was a concertmaster with the Yale Philharmonia and graduated with a Certificate in Performance. She has studied with world-renowned violinists, such as Hyo Kang, Ilya Kaler, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Guillaume Combet, and Aurelien Pederzoli. Julia served as the concertmaster for the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, assistant concertmaster for the DePaul Opera Orchestra, and was a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. She is a social media influencer on Twitch (StorioniGirl), TikTok (juliadinaviolin), and Instagram (@julia.dina.violin).   She has taught violin on the faculty of multiple institutions, including the New Music School, the Montessori Academy of Chicago, and the GEMS World Academy, as well as being a Yale Teaching Artist.   Julia began studying violin at the age of two and made her orchestral debut at the age of five. She was a student at the Merit School of Music in Chicago and studied at DePaul University’s School of Music. Julia has been a finalist in several top competitions including the Woolsey Competition, the DePaul Concerto Competition, and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. My son has been taking violin for 6 years, from top teachers and music schools, and Julia is the best teacher he has had. He advances quickly because she is both a brilliant musician and gifted at teaching. She adjusts her style to the student--and as a result my son's passion for the violin as at an all time high!!
