FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a free consultation. Let's talk about your budget and how we can make it work for your space. Since I don't mark up items I've purchased with my design discount, we can stretch your budget even further. Not sure what your budget should be? We can talk about that, too. To make this process even easier, my design fee is a fixed rate so you don't have to deal with unexpected hourly charges for line items like travel.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After our initial consultation over the phone, I will then visit you so we can meet face-to-face, you can show me the problem areas within your home, and I can come up with a better understanding of the scope of the project. At this point, I should be able to provide a flat fee for my services, however, depending on the complexity of the project, I may want to use Pinterest as a way to communicate some ideas back and forth so you can narrow in on your top priorities. Once we decide to move forward with the project (and all agreements are signed), I will ask for 50% of my design fee up front. I will then come up with a few designs using 3D computer modeling, 2D floor plans, pictures, etc., and will present these to you for selection. As we continue to move forward, I will ask for your budget amount so I can begin purchasing the items, hiring contractors, etc., for the project. As the project comes to a close, you will select an implementation day(s) for us to complete the design. After the reveal (!), I will then ask you for the remaining 50% of my design fees.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For the creative design portion of my business, my experience grows over time with each client. I continuously learn by researching, attending conferences and shows, and reading up on the latest trends. Although higher education can open a lot of doors and provide a foundation, in my case, I would like someone to hire me based on my past projects, confidence in my skill set based on our discussion during consultations, and my client reviews.
