Ms. Trudeau edited my first (published) novel, Holy Fool, released this year (2015) by TouchPoint Press. My novel is a satire about religion and materialism in contemporary America, with a heavy emphasis on the viability of spiritual faith -- not exactly a snap-job. Ms. Trudeau seemed to understand immediately what I was trying to achieve, and moved the manuscript steadily to that goal with imagination and enthusiasm. She displayed a sharp eye for inconsistencies, redundancies, and suggested innumerable improvements in word -- and even phrase -- choice. On the rare occasion we had a difference of opinion, her excellent empathy and apparent conviction that the author (for better or worse) should probably be allowed the last word, brought my respect and admiration for her to its highest level. Ms. Trudeau and I have never met, conducting the months-long editing process of my book via e-mail, but my personal affection was such that I like to feel I am well-acquainted with her, and we have kept in touch. My literary agent is shopping around my new novel; Ms. Trudeau would be my first choice as editor, were a publishing contract offered. I can think of no higher recommendation.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
On average, I charge $3.00 per 250-word page for editing. This can vary, depending upon length and editing requirements.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It is important for me to understand just what the client wishes to have done. Once initial contact has been made through email, I prefer to chat by phone to get a feel for the project and the client. Subsequent correspondence can be by email or phone.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. in English and more than 15 years experience in writing and editing for a wide variety of subjects. In addition, I have a love of history and historical accuracy. My proficiency in French, German and Spanish allows me to provide minor translation work and at least know if you're using a foreign word correctly. My preference is to work with AP or Chicago Manual of Style, but I have knowledge of and resources for other styles.
