Marianna Spina is the perfect decorator for ‘anxious’ me. I knew the style I wanted, but did not know where to begin. Marianna took the time to listen to all my desires, all my concerns, and then explain how we would make it work. Immediately I knew I was in good and capable hands; I was able to relax. We got quickly to work: Marianna made drawings, suggested paint colors, curtains, bedding, furniture pieces, etc. We had a plan, so off to the shops! Here Marianna is invaluable. Stores can be overwhelming, but not for her. Marianna was able to ferret out just what we were looking for. And, she found the bargains. Done now; everything is perfect! We finished in a timely fashion without breaking the bank. Working with Marianna Spina was a very comfortable and satisfying experience.

I have been working with Marianna Spina redecorating my family room and living room. Marianna can walk into a room and see immediately what changes will help make a difference and a statement. I have a limited budget and she has helped me pick out very reasonably priced items, and we have re-used many items I have in my home in new ways. In no time at all we made decisions and changes that have been exactly what my family needs and enjoys. Marianna’s taste is impeccable BUT she stays with the client’s taste, guiding choices based on what I like and want to have in my home. She is friendly, lively, energetic and lots of fun. Marianna was a gem from the get go! It was so helpful to have our first meeting right here in the middle of our disaster of a kitchen remodel. What started as some simple changes got really complicated once we started the demolition. Marianna was able to see the potential in the space and make it work for our style. We didn't feel like she was trying to sell us anything and we could not have done it without her help. We ended up using the cabinets we already had by just staining them and getting more modern hardware-they look brand new and we saved a ton of money. Of course we used some of that to replace the linoleum with tile and the countertops with this cool quartz. It was her attention to the little details, like making the backsplash be a different than the countertop as well as the big ones like helping us see why the floor tiles had to be big to make the space look larger, that made all the difference. Marianna also walked around the rest of the house with us and made some easy and relatively inexpensive changes, like new pillows for the sofa, some crown molding in the den and a new color for the walls in our bedroom. We ended up feeling like the whole house had a makeover. We'd hire her again and have told our friends what a great investment this was. The only thing that could have gone better would have been to have hired her before we even started the demo!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Since my work can vary a great deal depending on the project I always start a project with a consult meeting lasting 2-3 hours at the client's home for which I charge $250. At that time I will make recommendations for the project and my involvement.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with a lengthly phone conversation where I gather general information which ends with both the client and I feeling comfortable with one another.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Have done training and study at the New York School of design and have worked at both the New York Design and Boston Design Centers for over 25 years. Private practice on the south shore of Massachusetts for 20 years providing affordable and realistic design.
