Introduction: I gained Spanish fluency when I was about 25 years old. Recently, I have learned how to read and speak some Hindi. Therefore, I know first hand what it is like to learn a new language as an adult. In addition, I have been a teacher for over 20 years. The last 15 years was spent teaching students with learning disabilities. I am currently teaching English to Chinese students. I will bring all my years of experience to each tutoring session. My philosophy is that all students can learn, all they need is a caring and yet determined teacher. The joy of teaching is watching a student learn. My favorite part of teaching is when a student has an aha moment and it finally clicks. I love teaching!

I graduated from a two year nursing program. Each semester required the students to take a math test to continue the program. I am very grateful that Mrs. Holguin help me understand how to set up the math problems and solve the equations. She has helped me with algebra and sciences as well. Mrs Holguin is a very dedicated person. She works well with children of all ages. She is an excellent tutor in mathematics and science. She has helped my grandson progress in reading. Mrs. Holguin explains in detail the nature of the subjects covered and taught.

$30 for 25 min or $50 for 60 min.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It is important to me to know the student I'm working with. So part of the first session will be a 'Getting to know each other.' session. Prior to the first lesson, I will request information concerning any textbooks being used and email. Most sessions will be conducted via Zoom.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors of Science degree. I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. I also have two Masters degrees. A Masters of Arts in Science Education and a Masters of Education in Exceptional Education with a focus on Varying Exceptionalities and a certificate for Gifted Education.
