FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I hold an initial meeting over the phone or in person (depending on location) to discuss type of pieces, style, length and timeline of ceremony, number of members in the bridal party, etc. From there I make suggestions and can play pieces if we are in the same place. Otherwise I advise to listen on youtube to see if it is the type of piece the like. If another meeting is preferred, I am happy to do that as well so they can hear the pieces on the violin (and accompaniment if applicable). If the ceremony is at the church, I like to discuss the songs with the church organist/pianist and will attend the rehearsal if I feel it is necessary.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I played in various symphonies over the past 25 years including the Elizabethtown Symphony, F&M Orchestra and New River Valley Symphony (in Blacksburg, VA during college). I studied the Suzuki method of violin as a child which has enabled me to learn songs by ear. Presently, I play weddings and occasionally with bands in my free time.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have a "day job", however music is my passion. I enjoy playing all kinds of music and weddings allow me to play a variety of music depending on the couple's preference!
