I have taken my time to write this review because I was treated so badly when dealing with Taycakez I had to calm down and think about all the warning signs that I failed to pay attention to. I hired Taycakez in the beginning of 2016 (February). My main reason for hiring her was that she was going to give me an AMAZING deal that no other baker was offering. She was going to bake my wedding cake and throw in 6 dozen cupcakes for $350 and just for letting her get the experience of doing her "first wedding cake". Me and my fiance agreed because she seemed like a nice lady at the time. The saying "If it is too good to be true, then it probably is" is exactly what we would witness by the end of this experience. We went to our cake tasting and had no complaints with the cake. After our cake tasting I recommended her to a family friend, but she ended up ruining their cupcakes and in turn their baby shower. I decided to give her another chance because from what she said she had been dealing with a lot of health issues and family issues during the time. I usually give the benefit of the doubt in any situation. We had a conversation where she explained she didn't feel confident enough to do my wedding cake ,but that she would do my cupcakes for the deposit that I put down for our original order. This was 3 months before my wedding when we agreed to this. I reached out to her 2 weeks before my wedding to make sure everything was still in place and to even just check on her health issues she explained she was dealing with. Everything was a go and there was nothing else discussed. I never received any additional invoices or anything. I contacted Taycakez a week before my wedding to check -in again and nothing had changed. Then I explained to her the night before my wedding that my aunt would be coming to pick up the cupcakes the morning of my wedding. The morning of my wedding my aunt calls me and says that Taycakez would not give her my cupcakes because there was apparently a balance that I owed. I was so confused and frustrated because Taycakes never once resent a new invoice or said anything about any additional money that needed to be paid. She had countless times to let us know about this balance that literally appeared out of thin air, but chose to wait and say something the morning of my wedding when emotions are already running high! I was so disappointed she chose the absolute worst time to bring up a balance. She was very rude and made no sense when she called to speak to me about the balance. My main issue with Taycakez is that she failed to communicate additional fees that she added on. She went months without sending a new invoice or even speaking about more money that was due before we were able to get our cupcakes. So because nothing was said I assumed nothing was owed especially when I have contacted her several times before my wedding. That was so unprofessional and just malicious. Thank God my aunt came prepared with money to pay or else I wouldn't have had cupcakes for my wedding. After going through this entire experience the cupcakes she gave us didn't taste ANYTHING like the cake we had at the cake tasting. To make matters worst she let us borrow her cupcake stand and couldn't wait until after I got back from my honey moon to asked me about dropping it off. She was very rude and nasty when I explained that I was busy and could drop it off during the weekend. She actually wanted me to call someone to come drop it off to her because she needed it so bad. I suggested for her to come and pick it up since I wouldn't have to time to bring it to her until the weekend. She told me to "keep it as a wedding present". If you have a choice please don't do business with this woman! She is rude, nasty, and really unprofessional. It is not worth the drama and the possibility of her unprofessional-ism ruining your special day!Nov 1, 2016Verified
I really enjoyed my order. The cakes and cupcakes were not only beautifully designed, they tasted awesome as well. I will be sure to order again.Aug 14, 2016
