FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge an hourly fee for my services. I charge $200 per hour for mediation. If there are attorneys participating in the meditation, I am more flexible about the cost. My attorney rate is $300 an hour. I also offer a reasonable fee for drafting legal documents after an agreement is reach, if all parties agree that I may prepare the final documents. Alternatively, there are other attorneys in my office that can draft the final documents for a reasonable fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
This depends on the legal issues and level of conflict between the parties. I usually talk to parties individually. Then, I may or may not mediate with the parties in tge same room. If parties remain in separate rooms, I negotiate an agreement by talking to each party alone regarding getting each issue. This is known as "shuttle" negotiation. I do whatever is less stressful on the parties.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to 23 years as a prosecutor and trial attorney, I am certified as a mediator by the Dispute Resolution Center of King County. I also earned a MA in speech communication and JD. I am also certified as a guardian ad litem for both divorce law and guardianship law. I am also trained in collaborative law, which is a legal process where the parties are represented by collaborative attorneys, who work to form lasting agreements based on advise from other professionals and negation without court intervention.
