FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Group class pricing appears on the website. Occasionally we have Special Offers; potential customers may always ask if we have any deals going on. In general, the longer a client commits, the lower the class fees. We offer discounts for long-term commitment to our acting program. Private coaching fees can be sent by request; packages of private lessons can by tailored to the individual needs of the client.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It's always nice to meet first, if only by phone! But we've frequently had sudden bookings by actors who need immediate audition prep. And in this digital era, many actors simply sign up for group classes on our website. It's important to zero in on the client's needs. This can be easily accomplished with a few simple questions like: 1. What is your background/experience? (Most newcomers have no experience or have been away from acting for a while.) 2. What are your short-term goals? (Could be simply to prepare for an audition or even just to dip a toe in the waters to check it out!) 3. What are your long-term goals, if any? (Some people have already made the decision to pursue acting professionally and it helps to know this in recommending a course of action, lessons and classes.) 4. What qualities are important to you? Do you seek to be pushed out of your comfort zone? Or do you prefer gradual growth? (We have been in business for 34 years and can truly say we offer exceptional personal attention to each of our students.)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The main instructor at The Actor's Workshop-Detroit, Brian Lawrence, is a graduate of Michigan State University. In addition to more than 30 years as a writer, director and acting teacher, he has taught screenwriting at the university level. Mr. Lawrence has directed and produced a number of films, including two features that both received distribution. Aida Muñoz studied at the University of Detroit and has been a professional actor (SAG-AFTRA) since 1991. Represented by both major Detroit agencies, Ms Muñoz created the Young Actors Program, designed to serve the needs of professional children but welcoming to non-professional students too. She also provides private coaching and career support to actors at The Actor's Workshop.
