FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For recruiting, my standard fees are 20% of base salary on perm roles (and I can do contract and contract to hire as well). For resume writing, I don't have any "standard" pricing, as it's very client specific - depending on the client's needs, the complexity of the resume and how much time it would require for me. My typical resume prices range from around $150 to $399. I try and do my best to work with people and be as flexible as possible with my pricing, considering that many of my clients are not working. For my coaching, I typically charge $200 for (2) 60 minute calls with me, but for Thumbtack clients, I'm including a third hour for the same price.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first step is having a conversation with my client and getting a feel for who they are, what they are doing now and how I can best help them. If they have a partial or old resume, it's a good starting point to see what they have done. If I'm working from scratch, that OK too, I can get all the information I need over over the phone. The initial call with me can take around 30-45 minutes, so I can get all the details and specifics of their career accomplishments so that I can put together the first draft of the new resume. Once I have completed the first draft, I would email it to my client, requesting (and expecting) feedback and edits / changes. From there, we work off the draft together until we have a final version that my client is completely satisfied with. I commit to doing as many changes or edits that are required until my client is happy! For coaching clients, I would have an in-depth call with them to understand exactly what their current situation is, where they might be struggling, and where they are trying to go. Then, I create a plan for my future calls with them (usually a minimum of two - an hour in length). I like those calls to happen over a two week period so that they can try new strategies, and then have an opportunity to build on what's working by the time we talk the second time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
No formal training, but I have been writing resumes for over 15 years, and LinkedIn profiles for people for over 10 years. I'm also asked on a regular basis to present to job networking groups in Atlanta on job search strategies and leveraging LinkedIn in a job search. I try and take advantage of all opportunities to volunteer my time and share my experience and expertise to those in a job transition.
