If you’re a beginning guitarist, I’ll cover such topics as how to tune your guitar, beginning chords and strumming patterns, folk guitar fingerpicking and how to read guitar tab. Once you’ve learned the basics, I will teach you to play classic folk songs like "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas, "Scarborough Fair", by Simon & Garfunkel and "Fire & Rain" by James Taylor! My name is Dennis Whitt-guitar instructor for Classic Folk Guitar and I teach folks like you who want to learn folk guitar but are frustrated by the focus on rock music in most guitar classes. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer the first lesson for free as a way to give prospective students a chance to evaluate my playing ability and teaching style. If the student is pleased with their first lesson then we will proceed with more guitar lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been playing guitar for over fifty years and teaching guitar for more than thirty. As a self taught musician, I can read both music notation and guitar tab. I have played in bands and as a soloist, have owned my own music store and been featured on local radio and TV shows.
