Ms.McNamara is an outstanding voice teacher. Her expertise as an opera singer is evident from the beginning of a lesson. She is able to explain breath, support and resonance in an accessible way for the beginner, intermediate or advanced singer. Her approach is based on scientific knowledge of the voice and years of experience singing on professional stages on an international level. She is personable and good humored and makes lessons fun. She encourages students to bring in other genres besides classical such as musical theater, county or pop. Her basis for teaching is however, based on bel canto singing. She is able to explain and demonstrate a mixed belt to young women in a safe and sound manner. I would recommend Ms. McNamara with enthusiasm and without reservation to any amateur or professional singer.

I've had the pleasure of knowing and working with Mary Katherine McNamara for the past 29 years! She is a RARE and FANTASTIC singer, and an engaging and passionate teacher. She helps her students discover their INDIVIDUAL, authentic, free, and healthy voice. She has a phenomenal ear and a vast knowledge of the vocal repertoire. I recommend her without reservation!!

After two lessons with Mary Katherine, the techniques she is teaching me have already made a huge difference in my approach to singing. Specifically, projection, dynamics, stamina and hitting higher notes with confidence. The way she explains the breath-body-voice connection makes it easy. I highly recommend her as a voice teacher, especially to working vocalists who sing many different styles and need to preserve the longevity of their instrument.
