FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I establish the connection. I reach out to the customer who has been referred to me, or I respond to the customer, with all pricing details. We then discuss everything they are looking for in a shoot. This is done usually by email, if possible, in person. I love when I can grab a cup of coffee and sit down one-on-one with my clients to get to know them, their personality, and their needs. If there isn't a clear location in mind, I encourage us to both research possibilities and collaborate ideas. I'll show examples of my work in that field, or help them find ones that match the style they want so we can brainstorm ideas if they are unsure. Before we're done, a date is established and, depending on the type of shoot, a reservation fee paid. After that, we keep in touch as needed prior to the shoot, with a check-in the day before to make sure everything is ready to go the day of the shoot. Payment (check, cash, or paypal) is received at the time of the session. After the session, once the photos are edited and posted (this can take two days to two weeks, depending on the shoot. Average ready time is about 5 days) I will email you a link to your online gallery, as well as your pass code. Here you can download your full resolution images, as well as purchase prints and products. Pictures will typically be available online for 3 to 4 weeks. Once you have your photos, I'll send you another email thanking you again for your business, and request that you write a review here and on my Facebook page.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was the Athletic Photography Coordinator for Berry College and was trained in school and sports photography by Legacy Studios. I am self taught in all other areas, with over 8 years of total experience, and over 4 of professional experience.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Know what you want. If we have to spend shoot time doing a lot of trial and error trying to pin down what you are hoping to get out of our service, you are losing very valuable time, and not getting your full money's worth. And I always want my customers to get the absolute most out of their session, having the best experience possible. Whatever type of pictures you are in the market for, research them. Go to pinterest or google images. For example, if you are wanting to have engagement pictures done, look online to find ones that are in a style and environment that you like (don't expect exact replicas, as that is not what we do). Also, try and know if you want on location or studio--and just as important--if on location, an outdoor or indoor location? I am trained in studio work, but I do not personally have one. Furthermore, my favorite choice of light is natural, outdoor lighting. However, I'm willing to work with indoor light, it just isn't where I am most proficient. Yet. This type of thing will vary from photographer to photographer, so it helps you find the right fit if you know this information ahead of time. In short, before listing a request, please be prepared to answer as many of the questions that it asks, as you can, with a decisive answer.
