Introduction: My edge is my real-life experience in the music industry. Wright Vocal Coaching is a premier vocal studio located in the heart of Nashville, just walking distance from Music Row. Shortly after graduating from Belmont University with a degree in vocal performance, music business and songwriting, I began teaching voice and sharing what I had learned with others. Only five years later, I now have the privilege of being a Top 20 Male Contestant on Season 12 of American Idol, signing a management deal with JKC Artist Group (who also manage Amy Grant and Jon Guerra), singing background vocals on two songs for Natalie Grant and writing with hit songwriters like Tom Douglass (“The House That Built Me”), Keith Thomas (Over 40 #1s including “Baby Baby”) and Tommy Sims (“Change The World”). In addition to studying voice with Sandra Dudley at Belmont, I have also studied voice with Beyonce’s vocal coach Nick Cooper while on Idol. All this to say, my goal provide customized voice lessons tailored to help each student reach their specific goals in music. Whether you want to sing karaoke on pitch or perform at the Grammys, I am here to help! In commercial music (the kind of music we hear on the radio), students really only need to meet two requirements. First, it has to sound good so that people will want to listen. Second, it needs to be healthy for a long, sustainable career. Of course we will work on scales, expanding your range, tone, learning how to sing falsetto, etc., but what I enjoy most is helping students find THEIR voice, not mine and not the artist they may be trying to copy. Everyone’s voice is like a fingerprint because no two are the same. Discovering what makes each student’s unique voice stand apart from the rest and helping them share the depth of their God-given gift in a healthy, free and relaxed way is my favorite goal to reach on behalf of every student.
