I've had the great pleasure of having Hunter Holmes as my drum teacher for 17 years. He also teaches guitar--gave my husband guitar lessons. In addition to being a great teacher, the fact that he comes to the house in such a convenience! Before Hunter, I'd tried lessons at a music school but stopped because they were boring, not stimulating, despite the teacher's skill & experience as a session drummer. In comparison, Hunter, whom I consider to be a musical genius, comes with his amp and electric guitar, and even though I was a true beginner from the beginning it was such fun to play along with the most basic of beats and feel I actually was a drummer--it was music!! Along the way he of course taught me the basic skills and expanded them appropriately. He suggested and demonstrated fills, introduced me to so many musicians and styles of playing with his in-depth knowledge. He knows every detail of the Beatles--in fact had made a CD of their songs in which he played each instrument and sang each part, the final result being that it was nearly impossible to distinguish his CD from the real Beatles. He's a pleasure to be with, very engaging, and has the ability to tune in to each of his students' specific needs and personalities. He's shown me various games he's devised in teaching special needs children. Hunter is also a performer--an awesome performer!! We've had him play for a number of our parties---I actually accompanied him a few times--and we played in our front yard last June for PorchFest. I couldn't recommend him more--an extremely talented musician, teacher, performer, and a very fine person!!

Hunter's experience and expertise in music is unsurpassed. He can play guitar, keys, bass, drums all fluently. He's on time, easy to get along with and best of all, he has the unique ability to teach - in such a way as we students can learn quickly. He's amazing! I would recommend Hunter to anyone from beginner to expert. We can all learn from this great musician.

Both my boys have been taking drum and guitar lessons with Hunter for over a year and really enjoy working with him. My younger son was on the fence about continuing after we lost a previous teacher, but he has really "gotten into" music now and I credit Hunter with cultivating and deepening his interest!
Hunter has also been very flexible in adapting to our ever-changing schedules (both boys are 3 sport athletes and their schedules vary each season).
