I have recently had carpentry, tile, roofing and painting work done on my residence. By far I am most satisfied with the painting which was done by Dyke Marler. I contacted Dyke to paint my living room, kitchen and hallway. My wife was out of town visiting relatives and Dyke assisted with picking the colors and went to the paint store to make sure that the right paint was purchased. My wife and I are very pleased with the colors and the results. We have since had Dyke paint my wife's bathroom, our pantry and office. We will also be having him paint our bedrooms. Not only is Dyke an excellent painter he is very personable, conscientious and trustworthy. Dyke will always be welcome in my house not only as a painting professional but as someone that I would consider a friend. I give him the highest recommendation that I can give any one.

Beware of Navarre painting LLC. Its a one man show and his name/owner is Dyke. I hired Navarre Painting to have 10 interior doors/trim and approx 300 linear feet of 5 1/4 inch baseboard painted semi gloss white. The doors and baseboards had a prime coat plus one coat of a white matte finish on them already. I wanted a coat or two of the semi gloss white painted on to give the trim/doors for a better finished look. We agreed that $500 would be the total cost for this service. The workmanship was aweful at best. He got excess paint all over my tile floors and all the door hardware and walls. He did not tape the doors nor remove door hardware just painted on them. He spot painted the doors/trim and baseboard so there is a varying matte finish and semi gloss finish that is very obvious and it looks terrible. He did not fully coat the doors with semi gloss. They were spot brush painted.He also used my bath towel as a drop cloth without my permission. I supplied the paint , one gallon of a Behr semi gloss. Get this, he only used about 1/2 gallon of paint. I knew there was a serious problem then and realized i may have been scammed. On the second day he demanded payment of $500 before the job was finished. I gave him a check for the full amount trusting he would finish the job with at least one even good coat. After he finished the second partial day I inspected his work and to my horror there was overpaint everywhere on the floors and door hardware. I fired him that day for fear he would cause even more overpaint damage. I tried to negotiate a reduction in price because now I needed to remove all the overpaint and recoat all the doors evenly with semi gloss paint. He cashed the full check and I never saw him again. Please look at the attached photos closely. I got scammed. He is not an experienced painter as you can see by the photos. Dont get scammed like i did. It took two people 8 hours just to remove the paint on the door hardware and walls. And now all the interior doors need another even coat. Basically I lost $500. I will never use Thumbtack again because they endorse Navarre Painting a scam company.

PLEASE READ MY OTHER REVIEWS.This one is very misleading and most of it is completely untrue. The pictures you are looking at above are from Day 2 of a 3 Day job. Our motto at NAVARRE PAINTING is "If it's not perfect, it's not finished." Please look at Picture #4 above with the 3 tiny spots of paint on the tile. This is what he refers to as "paint all over my floors" - and remember he submitted these pictures as evidence of bad paint job. After completely misrepresenting the scope of the job, I gave everything 3 coats of paint - AT NO CHARGE. Sanding the small amounts of paint off the hinges is the very last thing I do on a job. When I told him there would be an extra cost for 4 coats of paint, it basically became extortion. He said very clearly - AND I HAVE THIS IN WRITING - "I will leave a bad review on Thumbtack if you don't keep painting, and I will put you out of business." I hope you can see from his pictures above the only things left to do to complete the job were minor touch-up (punch-out list) things. It's also worth noting that AFTER all this he still asked me to paint his outside stairwell. I declined. Also worth noting is he was not present during the painting, even though I volunteered to change my work schedule to be there painting during his off time. I told him repeatedly I would come back as many times as necessary to do touch-ups AT NO CHARGE as I try to build my company. His pictures #4 (tiny spots of paint on tile) and #16 (small amount of paint on door hinge) sum up how ridiculously OCD this man is. Very, very strange man and he did this same thing to the painter before me and the tile guys who were there the same time I was. Basically an Extortionist. P. S. That's my bath towel in the picture, which he kept along with all of my tools.
