Introduction: I received BA in music education from National Taiwan Normal University and MA in music composition from Carnegie Mellon University. I am a certified Dalcroze music educator, a piano faculty at Suffolk County Community College since 2008 and a music director at Faith Bible Church in Flushing, NY. Online lessons are available for students from around the globe via zoom.
I have over 28 years of teaching experience in both group and private lesson settings with students from age of 4 to 80. My teaching experience includes piano, music theory, aural skills, choral conducting and music arranging and composition. I am a native Taiwanese, therefore I can teach either in English or Mandarin.
I perform and compose music in large variety spanning over from classical, children's musical to gospel and worship genres. I am able to teach both Jazz chord reading as well as rigorous classical discipline according to each student's personal goal for piano learning. My knowledge allows my students to grasp theory and finger techniques effectively and efficiently. I train students for recitals, NYSSMA, ABRSM Royal Music Exam, music school auditions, church worship services, recording sessions and competitions. My coaching includes practice strategy, finger techniques, aural training, music theory, physical coordination, music improv, stage presentation, team rehearsal and problem solving. Many of my students found themselves equipped with crucial life skills through the vehicle of music.
Over the years, I have the privilege of being part of growing progress of many budding musicians, some of them have entered music industry or music education today. I enjoy drawing hidden potential of each individual. My piano lesson is never limited to note reading and finger techniques. I equip my students with multiple disciplines that result in joyful music making and integrated musicianship.
