Barb Girson's presentation on The Neuroscience of Conversational Intelligence® (C-IQ): Why Every Word Matters (5/8/17) provided a great overview of Conversational Intelligence and how it is important to the coaching relationship as well as relationships in general. Barb effectively modeled how to set the stage for a trusting and collaborative relationship as she utilized relaxation techniques,showed vulnerability by sharing personal stories, actively involved the audience with hands on activities and discussion, provided an information packet that was extremely organized and contained pertinent information that brought the many aspects of conversational intelligence together in an understandable and well thought out manner. She has able to engage the audience on a feeling level which reinforced our need for awareness of how we interact with others in all aspects of our daily lives. Barb's non assuming manner, confidence, use of humor, positive energy level and overall enthusiasm made for an extremely enjoyable and meaningful experience that has motivated me to gain further knowledge about conversational intelligence and practice the techniques presented.
