FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Typically if a homeowner gets three bids I usually am and try to bid in that happy medium. I do a lot of follow up calls to see what other decks are doing for pricing each year and adjust my estimates accordingly.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After initially contacting a new customer I try to get an appointment to meet within that week. Upon meeting I explain the process on my end and how I operate with my crew. Typically we then look at the physical location of the project and start the drawing process and pinpointing the size shape and location of steps. After size and shape are determined then I show the different products and pros and cons. I open it up to Q and A and then let them homeowner look through the colors as I start writing up the estimate. Once final product is found final price is given on the spot. I then inform the consumer of our availability, time frame and billing. At this point if I've done my job in the first steps most all questions are answered and if homeowner wants to think it over I generally call within 2 weeks to see if there are any follow up questions I can answer.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Directly I have no education in the construction field; only hands on as I grew up working construction through high school, college then post college. I went to college and came out with a hr business major. So my education in college has prepped me to own a business. Prior to starting my own decking company i spent 5 years with a competitor deck company in the area.
