FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We can create quotes and proposals for lump sum fee or hourly fee depending on customer's preference. For most services we even have low, medium, and high pricing we can offer for our services depending on if you want higher end services such as 3d renderings included. amy green design's proposals are based on the America Institute of Architect's (AIA) contracts - which are the most reputable in the industry; but many Architects & Interior Designers, particularly those that don't use the AIA contract format, will leave out services and fees in their proposal that are critical to successful completion of your project - in order to provide you with the lowest initial proposal in an effort to win the project. Be wary of change orders and additional services/fees which low balling Architects may add to their fees down the road once you've contracted them - which can make them ultimately a more expensive Architect/total fee after additional service fees - versus Architects such as amy green design who take the time to carefully identify every service and fee that they recommend would be needed from the beginning to end of your project in order to help you achieve a successful project. amy green design custom creates every proposal for each client's unique goals, schedule, and budget for the project. We typically structure our proposals one of three ways; depending on what it most advantageous and comfortable for the client. 1) Our most common proposal is a fixed fee where we agree to complete certain service(s) for a client for a certain price in a certain time frame. A deposit is required to mobilize us to begin work on the project and the client is then after billed monthly as portions of the services are completed each month. Many clients prefer these proposals because they know from the beginning what services they are paying for, when the work will be completed by, and what payments to expect each month as services are completed. 2) Our second most common proposal is an hourly proposal. These proposals tell the clients what services we can complete for them at various hourly rates - as we have a different hourly rate for our different services depending on complexity of the service. The client has the advantage that if we complete the services in less time than estimated then we only bill them for hours incurred on their project. However, likewise if the project takes more hours than originally estimated, then the project may end up paying more than originally estimated to complete their project - or they can elect to reduce services to keep our hours within the original estimate. 3) Our other proposals are for retainers for clients who want to reserve a certain amount of our time on an on-going basis for their continual work with amy green design.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our very first step with potential clients is to set up a free phone consultation where we discuss together your desired goals and timeline for your design project, budget, and schedule for the project along with where you're currently at in the process. Our next step after our phone consultation with potential clients is typically an on-site consultation, where we see the space in person with you, can help you best determine what else needs to be brought up to code during the renovation, advise you of design moves that are best made in person together in the space where the design will be, and begin sketching the design together on-site. After our on-site consultation together, you can either sign on as a client of amy green design and we can begin working together under a full scope of services, or you can decide to proceed with a zoning study, feasibility study, or other services prior to signing on for full services. For smaller projects where existing conditions documentation on-site isn't necessary to provide you with an accurate proposal, we can provide you a full proposal of services within a couple business days after our phone consultation.
