FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process begins with a telephone or e-mail conversation to understand the scope of the project and to set up an in-person meeting. When we meet, I review the space and do an informal interview with the client to learn what the goals are for the project as well as their preferences and tastes. I then use this information to to create a concept drawing that I review with the client to get their input and any further guidance they have for their project. If needed, I make revisions to the concept drawing and re-present it. Once the concept is approved, I schedule a time that is convenient for the client for me to come and paint the mural in their space.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA from Colgate University with a major in Fine Art. I have been painting for over 30 years and am a member of the Copley Society of Art in Boston, MA.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got the "bug" to paint murals when I painted my first mural at age 15 in the hallway of my Junior High School! As a fine artist, I have been painting since then, and started back in to painting murals when I did a sky scene in my daughter's room. I spent the first 22 years of my professional career in customer service and sales, and I loved collaborating with clients to deliver successful projects. BlackBeak Studios was created when I decided to combine my passion for painting with my love of working with clients.
