Thank you, David. It’ a pleasure tutoring your 8th grader in algebra.
I loved how my daughter warmed up to Jenny right away and she made McKenna feel so comfortable. She is so sincere, engaging and has only the best interest of her students. We will be using her again in the near future for sure!May 4, 2017VerifiedJennifer M.'s reply
Thank you, Kellie. I enjoyed working with McKenna to prepare her for the SAT and am excited at her prospects for college next year.

Thank you, Natalie. It is a delight to work with your first grader in reading and math.
An extremely competent teacher--and very encouraging to my son. He's done much better in math since we've started working with her.Jan 4, 2017VerifiedJennifer M.'s reply

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Yes, but it is subject to change based on my availability. Therefore, please inquire about this, and I'll be happy to share my current rates with you.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I typically start with a phone consultation; this is when I learn about my new student's educational journey. I learn about any special needs and what my new client is looking for in a tutor. I am passionate about what I do, so I'm always excited to discuss all that I have to offer my students. When I meet with my student for the first time, I strike up rapport with him/her. I assess his/her skills to see where just where s/he is. Then, I line up some lessons with which to supplement once school work is complete. I re-assess regularly to document measurable improvement and to drive my instruction. I build trust with my students, and they wind up feeling relaxed and confident in their abilities, which leads to an open, growth mindset. This mindset is open to learning, which enhances their experience with me. I'm often told that although math is difficult to understand in the classroom setting with their regular math teachers, it is easy to understand when I teach it to them.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have earned a multiple-subject teaching credential, a single-subject teaching credential in English, and a studio teaching license all in California. I have taught and tutored multiple grade levels over the past fifteen years. I was initially trained formally to tutor for college entrance exams (SAT & ACT) over ten years ago. The tests have changed a couple of times through the years, but I keep abreast of all changes and tutor my students for the current tests at all times. I've invested my time and sometimes my own money in training for the following professional development programs and positions: America Reads tutor; AVID tutor; Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) International children's leader; teacher, private tutor, and essay grader for college entrance exams; brain-based learning through Quantum Learning Network; Common Core Math for Elementary Teachers at the San Diego County Office of Education; three-day training to become a certified instructor of Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI); eLearning Strategies Symposium, and much more.
