FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was in building theory and wood technologies and Civil Engineering at UMass. I left school junior yr to focus on apprenticeship full time
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My family is crowded with tradesman. My father started me renovating his houses and some rentals at a very young age. In high school I worked building custom homes. I stayed at home building through UMass (building theory and wood technologies). After I left school jr yr I worked in Natick, Wellesley area outside of Boston for 11 yrs. I learned a lot from Dan Bache Construction and I still work for that man when I have time. I can't really pinpoint exactly when I knew this is what I would do but I've been making money doing construction since I was about 15 and I've been at it ever since.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We had a rather large floor replacement and jack up the walls on a very old building that skirts over high tide at the Crosby Yacht Yard. We had a few curve balls and due to a hyped up hurricane forecast our deadline was tightened up. We worked straight through the remaining high tides (up to our chest) and got the building back on its piers. I love working on and around the history of those buildings and the Egan's and Crosby's are just great to work for. It's obvious they have high quality standards as well and it's nice to see their satisfaction and approval of our craftsmanship.
