FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to understand everything from the venue or location to the makeup applicants ages. Typically, I ask a plethora of questions while giving the applicant information about myself and assuring them that I am the perfect fit. I will not take a job that I do not believe is a perfect fit - I stand behind my makeup application process and my talent. Some questions I will ask: Event type (I do everything from fx makeup, special occasions to bridal and even single/group classes), Location, Time, How Many Applicants, (their ages and names, do they have any skin conditions or allergies, skin type, any pictures of inspiration, pictures of themselves without makeup) Plus so many more dependent on the event type and applicants.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A person looking for a GREAT makeup artist should ask the following questions: What is their application process? What products do they carry? What sets them apart? ------------------------------- My application process: A little bit about the makeup process when deciding on your artist for the big day... I use only the best sanitation practices and 99% alcohol all utensils/makeup are completely sanitized or disposed of between clients. I start with a mini facial on all my clients while getting to know their skin by asking you questions. Then I apply the correct moisturizer and primer- based on your skin type. I always recommend a sweat proof base such as Mehron for my June-September brides or if your prone to sweating/oily skin. I've used this in theater production and on destination weddings in Mexico - it's amazing! Next would be to ensure a perfect foundation match I apply a little amount to the cheek and watch it oxidize (react to your skin's chemicals) to ensure it won't change colors or you have an allergic reaction while I apply your eye makeup. After the eye makeup has been applied I return to finish the foundation, concealer and powder work. Then I apply lipstick with a sealer. Last, I apply a face sealer such as Ben Nye this locks and sets the Makeup for a fun night of dancing or sweating so it won't budge. If you are a bride... ALL my brides get samples of products just in case a quick touch up is needed before photos! -------------------------- Products I carry: Skin prep and sealers include Skindanavia, Face Atelier, Mehron No Sweat, Neutrogena, Clinique, Philosophy, and many more! For foundation I stock 4 different types dependent on your skin care needs (oily/dry/combo/acne prone) and event (from bridal to fx effects) oil, water, alcohol and silicon based. I can apply this with either airbrush or brush application. My kit contains foundations/concealers such as Bobbie Brown, Mac, Camera Ready Cosmetics, RCMA, Mehron and Face Atelier. My powders/blushes/contouring are either Mac, Ben Nye or Mehron. My eye shadows are all Mac or Face Atelier. As for eyeliners/mascaras I use Mac, Dior and Ben Nye. Finally all my lipsticks/lipliners are either Mac, NYX, Ben Nye or Mehron. ----------------------------------- What sets me apart... I'm enthralled with the chemical components/ingredients of makeup from the preservatives to the added vitamins to the levels of silicones/water/oil bases and even synthetic brush additives. Makeup has come along way and skin care too! Now cosmetic lines are offering makeup with added skin care benefits such as spf or peptides. A great makeup artist should know what ingredients their product lines hold in order to achieve the perfect application and what tool should be used to achieve it (synthetic or real bristle brush). After countless applications I'm familiar not only with my kits ingredients but what that will produce on a certain skin type, how it will oxidize and blend. Makeup is a chemical reaction with your skin and knowing it at a molecular level is a must to achieving perfection!
