Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My goal as a teacher is to give my students the right tools that enable them to think critically about their sound. I adapt a communication style that is productive and relevant to each individual. And since every student comes with a unique set of strengths and weaknesses, I often write exercises and pieces tailored to building on those strengths and erasing weaknesses! Every student is uniquely special. We simply must tap into that cello brain, and they will excel! Having received a Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana Univeristy's Jacobs School of Music and Master of Music degree from Boston University and Temple University, I offer high quality private lessons. Currently, I'm on string faculty at The Haverford School, Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's Tune Up Philly and Community Music School. Going through every success, small or large, with my students makes teaching worth every minute. They grow as cellists and people, and I get to witness their confidence level rise as time goes on.

Ms. Morelli is a wonderful teacher! Her encouragement, positive reinforcement and playing along with my child has made an amazing impact in such a short time.

Miss Morelli has been working with my son as his private cello teacher for a few years now. I knew she was the right teacher for my son right away. She built a positive rapport with him and motivated him in ways that I could not as a parent. Miss Morelli was able to pinpoint his strengths and weaknesses and found creative ways to help him grow as a cellist. My son has been able to audition successfully to different organizations under Miss Morelli's guidance. She is the best we've had so far!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We start with a trial lesson. By the second lesson, they receive technical exercises (written by me specifically for their needs), an etude and a solo piece! Beginners receive a more in depth packet of music, initially. My method for starting beginners emphasizes proper form, note comprehension and effective at-home practice methods. One of the secrets to effective practice is listening to your sound. I have a 4-step, checklist-type process to help my students adopt this skill!

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

My students currently range in age from 6 - 60. They come from absolutely any background. All you need is a desire to learn cello! That is my only requirement.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What are the student's long term goals? Would the student like to take auditions? How much should the student commit to practicing each week in order to see results? Can we play popular music in addition to classical? (Yes!)
