The best dog trainer!May 20, 2018Verified
Before even meeting Nico in person I was impressed with his responsiveness and experience. We needed his help to give our dog, Joey, insulin injections with just one person and without creating a very stressful experience. My husband and I made some progress on our own with him but it was still very difficult and stressful to give the shots without two of us home. Nico came over and tweaked our routine to make it easier for just one person to give the injections. After just that visit, I have been able to give Joey his insulin with little to no trouble on my own. It relieved a lot of stress for us and for Joey!May 11, 2018VerifiedNico B.'s reply
Laura and Colin: it was a pleasure meeting and being able to help you get to a better solution for Joey. Happy thoughts to you both!
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Every dog is different however as a general rule the first phone call is free, the evaluation visit is $50 to $75 for an hour visit. Subsequent basic training is $50 to $90 an hour depending if the training takes place in my home or in yours, the type of issue and whether it is a train and stay or a visit. Finally specialized training for service dogs, airplane travel etc.. is $100 and up depending on time and difficulty. As a matter of reference a fully trained service dog will cost you over $20,000 including the original costs of purchase, all vet costs, neutering or spading, boarding and all special training.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First I schedule a phone conversation to understand the background and history of the dog(s) Second I schedule a visit to the owner's home to see their dog(s) in their element and do a thorough evaluation which will be the basis for my quote. Thirdly we will start the formal training with a recap at the beginning of each session
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I started training service dogs 40 years ago and was mentored by many wonderful coaches. I earned the title of Certified Trainer from the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors (NADOI) and I am a member of the International Association of Service Dog Partners (IAADP).
