Laura Martino founded Solo Tempo Music in 2014, after having directed musical ensembles since 2006. Laura is a vocalist by trade, and considers singing (alto) to be her first love. She holds a B.B.A. from University of Texas at Dallas, where she studied Business and jazz improvisational theory with Dr. Kelly Durbin. Over the years, Laura's students have gone on to receive state recognition in various competitions and college scholarships in music. Laura's early experiences in music were largely characterized by her frequent performances with the Childrens Chorus of San Antonio, San Antonio Mastersingers, and Youth Chorale of San Antonio, as well as the San Antonio Symphony. Laura has had the benefit of learning from wonderful music mentors along the way, including: Dr. John Silantien (of UTSA & San Antonio MasterSingers), Dr. Doreen Rao (Clinician & Interim Director of CCSA), Jennifer Zacagni (principle accompanist of CCSA), and the Childrens Chorus of San Antonios founder, Marguerite McCormick. She went on to study classical voice with Linda Poetschke at the University of Texas in San Antonio. Today, Laura enjoys singing for the Dallas Symphony Chorus and with her church a cappella worship team at Prestoncrest. Her passion for teaching music is surpassed only by her love for Jesus Christ, her family and friends, and of course, her music students.
