We're all different. But this is how I look at what I do and I love it. I've enjoyed photography ever since my daughter was born in 2010; it sparked my desire and interest, where creative opportunities are limitless! First, I love the dynamic of composing the the right shot to fit the subjects in their environment bringing out the best of both. Photography is a curious mix of camera mechanics, light and physics, computers and image processing, creativity, fashion, style, romance and human psychology. So it keeps me occupied! Being able hear the positive reactions from clients reacting to the finished product is what's rewarding to me and what I strive for with every photo taken.

I hired David Carman as a photographer for a dinner party with 125 guests. He came early, was cooperative, a pleasure to work with, and stayed calm and cool photographing family and friends. What amazed me was how the young children who were photographed with and without their parents related to him. His patience and ability to relate to those he was hired to take pictures of was amazing. He showed me the pictures after he took them to make sure I liked the results. The pictures were so good I can hardly wait to see all them and choose the ones I want. My wife and I, were visiting Vermont in October and decided to hire an photographer to capture those wonderful moments and the beautiful fall colors. That’s when I put a quote request on Thumbtack and got quite a few quotes from the local photographers. I went through some of the photographers quotes and reviews and chose David for our photo shoot. We were not sure how this photo shoot would turn out with the weather and our travel from Texas, since we were planning this in advance. David was very prompt to respond to all the questions we asked and agreed on a date and time, and also chose a good location for this photo shoot. We were pretty amazed with how this photo shoot turned out and really liked the photos taken by David. I would certainly recommend David to anyone looking for an excellent photographer in Vermont area.

David came to our home to take senior portraits of our daughter. He is very friendly, professional and accommodating. We don't have the final product yet but he showed us the photos as he was taking them and they were beautiful!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The pricing in what I offer includes my drive time, setup, the actual photo shoot, post processing, and digital photo delivery (and all of the communication to make sure the customer is very pleased with not only the photos, but the experience as well).
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The initial process is learning what it is exactly the customer is looking in a photo shoot: setting, poses, etc. and what the photos will be used for. I then set up a date and time for a shoot, and reassure that the session will be a great experience for the customer. As a photographer, being able to able to adapt to just about any setting and environment to create an outstanding photo I think sets me apart. I bring portable lithium operated studio lighting, backdrops, backup camera, all the lenses needed for the job.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master Aeronautical Science with a specialization in Aviation Aerospace Management and also an adjunct instructor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Worldwide Online Program. In terms of photography, I have excessive hands-on experience and have taken numerous training sessions/seminars to develop lighting and posing techniques. I also have spend countless numbers of hours studying photos online. Being able to look at a photo and deconstruct it (where the lighting is coming from, what works, and what doesn't) allows be to be creative during my photo sessions.
