Introduction: I have more than a decade of experience tutoring students from ages 3-14. My services are especially popular in the summer to retain knowledge learned the previous year and to advance further so that students are already ahead of what is first being taught in the upcoming grade. I focus heavily on study skills so that the student can eventually learn to excel without the help of a tutor. I am a certified K-6 educator with experience teaching Preschool, 3rd and 5th grades. I have also recently completed 30 hours of training in the Orton Gillingham approach. This is a multi-sensory method to decode and encode words rapidly and with accuracy. This method is also especially effective with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and study skills so that students can succeed, but what is truly priceless...students teaching me their knowledge. My goal is to get students enthusiastic about learning so that they can become lifetime learners.

My daughter was struggling in 4th grade. Raelen tutored my daughter and I believe she was the reason my daughter passed the class with flying colors after struggling the first semester. Raelen didn't just focus on the specific subject of difficulty, she took an overall approach as well. She taught her study habits and how to take notes that she uses to this day currently as a sophomore in high school, making honor roll every marking period. In addition to tutoring my daughter, she also tutored my nephew who is 9 years younger. She was able to bridge the two ages and deliver the age appropriate education. Raelen would be an asset to any child needing extra help or even looking to go the extra mile.

My grandson attends a gifted and talented school in NYC. For several summers, he was tutored by Raelyn. He adored her and would do and try anything for her. Each September he entered his next class well prepared.
