FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes. I charge most clients a set fee. My fees, including the court filing fees, for a chapter 7 begin at $1,285.00 and may be increased at the initial free consultation based on the particular needs of the client. Chapter 13 fees are set by the court. The difference between attorneys who do this sort of work is the upfront, pre filing fee charged. I charge a total of $360.00 ($50.00 in fees and the court filing fee) in most cases. This is significantly less than a lot of my colleagues and is based on the fact that I have a significant client base and low expenses due to owning my office and so can afford to wait to get paid through the case payments made by the person filing a case.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I provide free initial consultations and review in detail each potential client's unique situation in order to provide all options under the bankruptcy laws. I do not do phone consultations as I do not believe that thorough, comprehensive advice can be given without a face to face meeting and the gathering of relevant documents and information about the very important decision about what options a person may legally have to resolve his or her financial stresses
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a law degree from William and Mary and have been practicing in the area of bankruptcy since 1991. I have also had extensive trial experience in other areas of the law and attend legal education seminars extensively in order to keep up with all changes in the law.
