It is my first time hiring through Thumbtack. We like to support and hire local, owner operated businesses, which their Thumbtack profile seems to indicate. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a great leaning experience – very disappointing. I was looking to hire for Gutter Cleaning for a two-level house and other details that were requested to be completed during Thumbtack search. They sent a quote for $60 via Thumbtack, a follow up, and a second one on clicking to hire on Thumbtack to call them. When called, I was asked if the house is a one level or two-level, and was told it would cost $125 since it is a two-level house. Understandable though. We had indicated the two levels, and other details asked during Thumbtack search! They come later that evening after 5 PM to do the job. Did not see any long ladder brought with them to reach second level gutters!! After arrival, they seemed more interested in trimming few over grown and low hanging branches of trees we had. Since we were thinking to get them trimmed, and remove few unwanted smaller pine trees in the back, thought it would be a good idea to get this work done at same time when they are here for gutter cleaning; worked out details and charges ($400). I am not an expert on the work level involved, and if charges finalized was reasonable. They begin (now closer to or after 6 PM) with tree trimming and cutting work before starting any gutter cleaning. Finally they get a start cleaning a front gutter at lower level. They remove some decayed leaves and debris but did not even try to flush clean the gutters or the drain pipe. We had to tell them several times about flushing drain pipe as we regularly see water over flowing when it rains from gutters. We give our hoses and our ladder, and they try to clear with water which flushes the clog from drain pipes. They then try to clean a lower level gutter at the back of the house. They removed some leaves, debris, and kept saying that everything looks okay and clean. We again have to tell them several times about water overflowing from gutters when raining and to flush out the gutter and drain pipes. They get our hose and try to flush out the clogged drain pipes and gutter. They kept saying everything is clean at second level gutters with no long ladders with them to even climb and take a look. The whole thing was turning out to be unpleasant in various aspects during this time period. They still have not done anything yet about cleaning the gutters at the upper level. It was getting dark. With no long ladder available with them that day, they promise to come back next day morning with a long ladder to complete the pending jobs. Meanwhile, they got us to pay 87.5% of the agreed price ($350) in cash. Stated that they do not do gutter cleaning regularly - but do primarily tree work; and would come back next day with a long ladder to clean second level gutters and promises to complete all pending work agreed. Got a call next day about not being able to come that day and would be there next day. Promised to come back on third, fourth days to complete all pending work, but did not show up on any of these days and at all thus far, and no further response anymore. Bottom line, the whole thing and my first time hiring through Thumbtack turned to be a great learning experience – though a totally disappointing and terrible one. Thank You.

Zac was amazing! Nice hardworking guy. I needed some stumps removed from my childcare facility and Zac delivered. He came at time that would not disrupt my business and got the job done. The price was extremely reasonable for what I asked of him. I would definitely hire Zac again and would recommend him to anyone.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I give a quote on the ad but like any quotes they could go up or down, I'm not going to change a customer some out rages price for Just some trimming, because most of the ads I reserve don't have pictures, so I'm quoting on what info customer is providing..
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet each customer in person and take a look at what job needs to be done so I can give them the best price possible. And work out a payment plan if need be, because I do understand everyone just don't have the extra money to get what they need done, so I've work out plans to help each and every customer to get the job done in there budget so it don't hurt there pocket..
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Arborist degree and been doing this kind of work for many years.. And I take pride in my work, as my grandfather did and showed that being kind and understanding that I'm not trying to get rich off one customer, so giving the best price possible and working with the customer on payments will get you long life customers for years to come..
