My iPhone reacted badly to the latest update so I headed to Verizon for help and was told I needed to take a trip to the Apple Store. While my son might jump at the opportunity, I was not happy about having to drive to Schaumburg or Madison, especially without a phone. Sitting dejectedly in my car, I remembered seeing a place in Roscoe called the Apple Shack after getting a haircut awhile ago. Definitely worth a try. When I walked in I was offered a drink and a comfortable chair while I waited for Anthony to check things out. I listened to Mike,I think it was, help another mature person get his phone and laptop set up and was very impressed. And not too much later, Anthony brought me my phone and Mike helped me get things back in order. Of course I had to pay them $20, but it was a very pleasant experience and I didn't have to drive to the city.

Apple Shack gave me hands down the worst customer service I have ever received in my life, not just bad but frightening. I originally brought my Iphone 6 in to have a cracked screen repaired- and despite the crack in the screen the phone was still completely operational- I was told the repair would take three hours, it took five and I had to call in to find out, they did not call me to update me on the new, slower, repair time. When I picked it up the first time the cracked screen was replaced, but the new screen was not completely set in, you could see light coming through the seams, and also the sound quality of the telephone speaker was muffled, which it was not previously. So a few days later I brought it in again because I was given a warranty on future repairs. I was told the repair would be ready by 5pm, at around 4pm after not hearing from them I called to find out the status of the repair, they then informed me they would be keeping my phone over night because the repair did not go as planned- So once again I had to call them to find out the status of my repair because they were not informing me of anything. Eventually the next day I went over to pick my phone up, after having to again to call them to find out the status of the repair. This is when I was informed that after a failed attempt to put another new screen on, they were going to put a ‘temporary’ screen on my phone which had dead and dying pixels and was full of air bubbles. This temporary screen only had to last until they could get a THIRD new screen for me, which due to the long holiday weekend was going to be four days. The temporary screen looked like whoever set it in who had never seen an Iphone before. It was popping out, and there was visible silicon glue oozing out of the seams, and over the next four days it almost came completely off the body of the phone. When the following Monday rolled around and I brought my phone back, after making it known to the owner that I was again dissatisfied and if I am to bring my phone in again this repair will be done right, and on time- and I was assured it would be. I reluctantly brought my phone in for what I was considering the last chance I would give them. I spoke to the owner, who assured me he would be the one repairing my phone (because he had previously informed me that the one’s who worked on my phone earlier were TRAINING, which I found unacceptable, you cannot train on customers phones.) So I left my phone with him to be repaired. I called later that day around 4:30 to check on my phone because once again I was given no update, no call to let me know it was complete. I spoke with the owner and he- snarkily- said “Oh, you haven’t picked it up yet? I EXPLICITLY told you your phone would be ready at noon, I told you as I was walking out the door this morning.” Whether he said it or not I do not know, I have no memory of him saying this but regardless, as a business owner he should not get aggressive with a customer for being mistaken, especially after said business is fixing their 3rd screw up. (Also a side note- making something explicit would mean he was saying it to my face not as he was walking out of the store while I was talking to the worker at the counter.) This is where it got bizarre. I went back over to the store to finally pick up my properly repaired phone- which to their credit, after 3 screw ups it finally was properly functioning. I was talking to the owner and he informed me that the tempered screen protector he was going to give me as a gift for the continued failure was back ordered and wasn’t going to be in for a few days, now keep in mind I just waited four days for them to order my new screen and they had promised me the screen protector on the same day they said they were ordering the screen. So naturally I was upset and I let him know I thought it was a little ridiculous, to which his response was not apologetic, or sympathetic, but he got aggressive and started telling me he’d done me a favor by fixing my phone and offering me a $100 cretit at the store and a free screen protector. Now I don’t know but I don’t really consider fixing what you had let your employees screw up three times a favor. At this point I was furious so I told him I would take a $50 refund over a $100 credit because I would never be bringing a device back to this store. To which his response was “You don’t know who you’re dealing with.” Which he repeated several times. It was more the response of a bouncer or a bully than a business owner. After a few more words were exchanged, which I will admit I was not being pleasant or amicable but I was merely matching the tone of the owner (who as the business owner should be more willing to admit a mistake to customers, especially ones who are so rightfully upset.) He told me to sign the paper and get out, which I did, and as I was leaving I said “I’m going to leave you a great review!” and he responded “Great! I can’t wait to reply to it.”(So if there is a reply from him below take it with a grain of salt because he had already planned to try and refute me.) And again, not proud of this but as upset as I was as I was walking out the door I had said “asshole” about him, but not towards him because I didn’t want to antagonize that much, and his response to that was hands down the least professional thing I had ever seen an owner, employee, or even just adult do. He followed me out of the store on to the sidewalk/parking lot and screamed, “You want to call me an asshole, then get in my face and call me an asshole!” (Which is exactly something I would expect from a bully; antagonistic, unprofessional intimidation.) I wasn’t afraid of him though so I got right back up in his face and called him an asshole like he’d told me to. He then screamed that he did me a favor and how rude I was and walked back inside. It was hands down the worst I have ever been treated, or ever even heard of someone being treated by a business owner. I know this review is long but if you only read a part let it be this; DON’T TAKE YOUR DEVICES TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. THE EMPLOYEES ARE POORLY TRAINED AND THE OWNER IS AN INTIMIDATING BULLY.
