Introduction: BarnBurnerArt stands by the quality and speed it takes to complete pieces. Now, this animation and illustration studio is only ran by one. My namer is Julia Francisco-Simoes and I specialize in Stop Motion Animation, running it through my house. I hope to have future relations with people that can bring Stop Motion to light, through the media in music videos, or gifs. I have already created two features- Having one of them aired to the School of Visual Art's Dusty Film Festival. My stop motion featured in the documentary, "PIPPA" won the Human Spirit Award at the festival. My other video, is a music video that will not be released until mid October. I do also illustrate, heavily traditional. I am trained in oils, watercolors and I do to use prismacolored pencils. With my paintings I love to incorporate stitching with embroidery floss to push beauty to another level. You can see them in the gallery on this site. I enjoy the work I do simply because it makes me happy. I have been involved in art since I was a baby, my father being a painter and my mother a seamstress. I grew up when Tim Burton was blowing away audiences with The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetle Juice. Growing up in Portugal, seeing a movie like this drew you in. I wanted to live in that little scene. All I wanted when I was little was to have a patched up dress like Sally- and to bring my own characters to life. Of course now being matured, I have perfected my technique with mediums to bring my visions to life.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
A standard up to three minute stop-motion animated music video could go up to 3,000$ (supplies included). Depending on the project, it may take me a month or two to complete. For illustration, depending on size and medium you would have to message me on the piece.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It depends on the project, but if is film- I have to know what the idea is for the project, where then I can build off. I will be able to tell you the pricing of the supplies to create that project- and the estimation of human labor. An illustration will only be charged for complication and size.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied at the School Of Visual Arts fin New York Cityor two years pursuing an animation degree, with my teachers Marty Abrahams and Aurelio Voltaire helping me along the way. I pushed to make a 4th year thesis film in only my second year at SVA, winning the Human Spirit Award at the Dusty's film festival. Now I am in Boston, studying at The Massachusetts College of Art and Design, persuing an illustration degree.
